There is a large community of Igbo speaking people in Bioko, Equatorial Guinea. These people are Igbo people that moved from Arochukwu in Abia state during the Spanish exploitation plantation to work as laborers in the 19th century. To date, the Igbo language is recognized in Equatorial Guinea as many people still speak it.
