Two German Deutsche Welle (DW) journalists, Konstantin Gabov and Sergey Karelin, were sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison by a Russian court for allegedly working for Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK). Two other journalists, Antonina Favorskaya and Artyom Kriger, were also convicted. All four deny the charges, stating they only reported on the foundation's activities. DW Director General Peter Limbourg condemned the ruling, citing Russia's disregard for the rule of law. Reporters Without Borders ranks Russia low in press freedom, noting the killing of journalists under Putin's rule.
